The exhibition, which consists of some works by Modigliani, his French and Italian friends and rare documents, photographs and correspondence, focuses on the painting Jeune femme à la guimpe blanche, for the first time in Italy. It is the portrait of Simone Thirioux whom, in 1917, Amedeo Modigliani knows, loves and makes a mother: he will leave her for other loves, he will not recognize his own son, with the ferocity that genius often cultivates in the garden of his own affections, and gives us a testimony as light as a sigh and heavy as the death that now sails on Simone Thirioux's head and on his own: in the pinto that for the first time is presented to the Italian public, Jeune femme à la guimpe blanche, Modigliani makes the pictorial material light, almost transparent, almost an unfinished painting at the service of the recreation of a suspended atmosphere, close to the heart but far in the memory This painting, thanks to Olga Sidamon-Eristavi, collector lender of the work, by Tod Tarrant, Michael Mezzatesta and Alan Kershaw arrives in Rome and creates the heart of the exhibition.
